Inspired by the style and colors of my old East coast prep school, Rusty Gate combines heritage with gritty disheveled patchwork to portray hastiness and unpredictability.

The first accepted lacrosse tournament in America was held at the auspicious Westchester Polo Grounds in New York, which marked the transition of the sport from the obscure to the elite. The “Westchester” colors are inspired by the early roots of the game, which originated as a war-training tool by the Native Americans. The E=MC² patch represents my belief that “Intelligence is sexy.”

President Kennedy defined the term “All-American.” “Jack” is inspired by JFK’s youthful years as a Congressman, and relaxing days in Palm Beach and the Hamptons. The clean Ivy League sports patch and classic casual sophisticated colors embody casual cool.

Lt. J.F.K. had his boat, “BOAT 109,” rammed by an enemy Destroyer. With an injured back, he still mustered enough strength to swim and tow a wounded crewmember several hours to safety. On “BOAT 109” it wasn’t every man for himself.

The muddy browns & blues were taken from the dusted book covers, while the rough treated traditional patches combine to push the paradox of Intelligence and Toughness.

British General John Burgoyne obtained his nickname not for his impeccable manners, but rather his fashionable cavalry, stylish uniforms, and high living. Skull patchwork of my cranium, tobacco pipe, and cabbie hat is my way of “tipping it” to Johnny.
